Negative Results

NEGATIVE PEER PRESSURE RESULTS
Although positive peer pressure exists, and often causes improved results for the better, negative peer pressure is infinitely more common. Common acts of negative peer pressure include:
·         Alcohol, drug or illegal substance use
·         Stealing/shoplifting
·         Adolescent sex, either by partner or friends
·         Illegal actions (e.g. driving unlicensed, using a fake ID)
·         To treat another in a negative way (bullying)
·         Engaging in risky behavior online/through social media (giving out information, sexting)
·         Cheating on tests, letting another copy from your work, or copying from another’s
·         Involving oneself in particular social groups that make them uncomfortable or exposed
·         Ditching important duties (work, school)
·         Acting, dressing or speaking a certain way that doesn't feel comfortable with the person
Because of negative peer pressure many teens are exposed to side effects that concern mental or emotional baggage. Mental or emotional baggage can negatively affect friend and family relationships, education, work and health. It can lead to depression, suicide or suicidal thoughts, anxiety, self-harm and a large degree of mental/emotional disorders (i.e. bipolar disorder).

Negative peer pressure can also cause someone’s social status to change for the worse, encouraging bullying from outer parties. The victim of negative peer pressure can get into legal trouble, endure horrific circumstances, and experience rapid situation changes and negative results that can affect their life in the future.
